Appointments

Fees

Individuals: $165 per 50-minute session. I offer a limited number of sliding-scale appointments for people who would otherwise be unable to engage in therapy at my regular fee. If you believe this applies to you, please inquire.

Couples & Families: $180 per 50-minute session. Many couples and families benefit from extended, 75-minute sessions, for which my fee is prorated accordingly.

Insurance

I am in-network with Premera, LifeWise, and most BCBS plans.

Depending on your insurance, I may qualify as an out-of-network provider, which could allow you to receive substantial reimbursement for my services. I am happy to provide a monthly invoice (known as a "superbill"), which may help you obtain reimbursement for your out-of-pocket payments. If you are interested in seeking reimbursement from your insurance company, I recommend asking them the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits? If so:

  • Have I met my deductible?

  • Does my plan cover reimbursement for CPT code 90834? (For couples, ask about 90837.)

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions I can have per calendar year?

  • What percentage of the fee is reimbursed for out-of-network services?

Location and Telehealth

I offer in-person appointments at my office in the Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle, where street parking is readily available. Where possible, I encourage people to meet with me in-person. I also offer telehealth appointments across Washington state for those unable to meet in person.

Frequency of Sessions

I ask for a commitment to meeting once a week, because consistency is important to the kind of work we will do together. My approach depends on the therapeutic relationship, which in turn depends on building a sense of emotional safety and trust between us. Both as a therapist and as a patient in my own personal therapy, I have found that conditions for real change is difficult to create without consistent, frequent time together.

Some people find it useful to meet more frequently than once a week. I am happy to discuss this option if it feels right for you and is clinically indicated.

Cancellation Policy

I ask for at least 72 hours' notice for any appointment you are unable to keep or wish to reschedule. This gives me sufficient time to offer that appointment to someone else who may need it. I charge the full session fee for no-shows, cancellations, or reschedules with less than 72 hours' notice, for any reason.

What to Expect During Your First Several Sessions

It is a courageous choice to begin therapy. The process is inherently vulnerable and requires building trust between us. During the first several sessions, I expect that we will both be evaluating our β€œfit” and ability to work together in a productive and meaningful way. The relationship is central to the success of therapy and I want everyone to have the experience of working with a therapist who is a good fit for them. Our first meeting is an opportunity to discuss what brings you into therapy, some of your hopes and goals, any concerns you may have, as well as questions you have about me or my way of working.

If you decide to schedule a follow-up appointment at the conclusion of our first meeting, we will continue with an assessment process which allows me to get a deeper sense of what brings you into therapy as well as important information about your background and life circumstances. During these first few sessions I will be open and transparent with you about my thinking and my understanding of your situation, as well as what I believe would likely be helpful in terms of addressing your reasons for seeking therapy.
